With the anticipated severe winter storm, residents encouraged to be ready

NORTH LITTLE ROCK – With the anticipated severe winter storm, Arkansas residents (particularly those in northwest Arkansas) are being encouraged by the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) to be ready for the approaching winter weather.

ADEM is working with county officials across the state to prepare for the on-coming storm. The State’s Emergency Operations Center was activated Monday afternoon as ADEM is monitoring the event closely. “We will support the state in any way possible to help them weather this storm,” said ADEM Director David Maxwell. “We also encourage individuals and families to be prepared by staying informed; stocking an emergency kit with items such as a flashlight, extra batteries, nonperishable food, plenty of water and extra blankets; and having a plan. Just be ready in case the worst does happen.”
