Benefit concert for Dwayne Newman cancer patient in Mountain View

We will be holding all day concert to raise money for Dwayne Newman who has been battling throats cancer. With 9+ groups we will have music For everyone’s liking classic rock, gospel, folk, bluegrass, and country. There is a great line-up of talented musicians coming together to help raise money. Richard Sanchez and the Cherry Pickers out of Paragould, Johnny Neighbors and his bluegrass band featuring Keith Wascom from Mountain Home, Perry Wallis with Mommas house band from big flat, Mr. Billy Don Burns from out of fifty-six to be one of our main headliners these are just a few of the groups slated to come. We will be having a raffle, BBQ dinners for $5 donations, a car/bike wash also for $5 donation. Tickets will be available at the gate for a donation. It will be an all-day event 9-9. So come on out enjoy some great food, fun, and entertainment and help us help raise much-needed funds for Dwayne and the Newman family.

Margie’s Haven House Golf Tournament

Margie’s Haven House will be hosting a golf tournament on August 19th. Registration beings at 9 am. Tee off at 10 am. There is a $50 registration fee, money to benefit Margie’s Haven House.

Meet Joyce and Desmond Simmons, owners of Lake in the Willows Apiary in Scott, Arkansas. This is a chance to taste a sample of their delicious honey products, including flavored spreads. They will have a model beehive and a video that explains their harvest methods and their commitment to saving bees from extinction. They have a variety of beeswax candles and products for protecting wood, as well as lip balm. The Arkansas Craft Gallery is run by The Arkansas Craft Guild, and has been promoting handcrafted in Arkansas since 1962.

The White River Area Parkinson’s Support Group will meet Monday August 21st, at 1:30 p.m. in the Citizen’s Bank Annex building located on College Street in Batesville. The group meets regularly at this location on the third Monday of each month with the exception of the months of April and December. All patients, caregivers, family and friends are invited to attend this or any of the future meetings. Veterans no cost Rides Tuesday to VA Hospital in Little Rock

Attention Veterans: The disabled Veterans of Arkansas invites Veterans to take advantage of the no cost rides to the Veterans Hospitals in Little Rock and North Little Rock. The van runs each Monday and Friday except Holidays. The Van Starts in Mountain View and makes pickups in Drasco, Concord, Floral, Pleasant Plains, Bald Knob, Searcy, Beebe, Cabot and Jacksonville. Batesville Area Arts Council Pottery Workshop

The Batesville Area Arts Council will partner with Main Street Pottery for a Pottery Workshop on Tuesday, August 22, starting at 6 p.m. During this 2 – 3 hour workshop, Karen Bailey will teach you how to create and artistically decorate a carved wine chiller, or kitchen utensil holder. No previous clay experience is needed. Projects will be glazed and fired in the kiln and available for pick up approximately 2 weeks after the class. Clay can be messy, so we suggest you wear jeans and a cotton shirt. The workshop will take place at Main Street Pottery, next to Third Street Farm Supply on N 3rd Street in Batesville, AR. Light snacks will be provided but feel free to bring your favorite beverage. The cost of the class is $50 and space is limited, so pre-registration is required.
