Saturday, October 31st is more than Halloween this year; it is the date of the annual Greers Ferry Lake Area Alzheimer’s Arkansas Walk at Fairfield Bay. This is one of five annual fundraising WALKS held throughout the state each fall, this year marking Alzheimer’s Arkansas’ twenty-fifth year of services. The morning begins at 7:00AM with a Pancake Breakfast presented by the Fairfield Bay Lion’s Club (GOLD SPONSOR), 365 Dave Creek Parkway. Proceeds benefit Alzheimer’s Arkansas. Following breakfast, registration and sign-in takes place at Fairfield Bay’s Woodland Mead Park, 522 Dave Creek Parkway (8:30AM – 9:30AM). Snacks and drinks will be available at the Park’s Pavilion building, provided by the IRV and Chesapeake Energy (Platinum Sponsor). All participants will receive two tickets for chances on the more than 60 prizes to be drawn following the WALK. All individual donations of a minimum $25.00 will receive a colorful Alzheimer’s Arkansas anniversary t-shirt.
The WALK begins at 9:30AM from the Park’s Amphitheater. Our WALKS are symbolic and are not mandatory. They are intended to memorialize those loved ones who have passed and support those with dementia today along with their caregivers and families as well as honoring everyone who has worked for and supported this annual fundraising event. Following the WALK at 10:30AM, awards will be presented followed by the drawings for prizes.
Throughout the morning a Cake Walk and chances for additional prizes will be sold with all proceeds going to Alzheimer’s Arkansas.
