Bob Sherrill Announces Candidacy

I have registered to run for the office of Cleburne County Sheriff on the Democratic ticket.  I have been very proud to work for the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office for the last 21 years and look forward to many more.  I am genuinely looking forward to continuing  to serve the citizens of Cleburne County as their sheriff.

As a child I was raised on a ranch in southern Florida.  As a young man I joined the Marine Corps.  While serving in Vietnam  I was wounded in battle and as a result was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. After a lengthy recovery I trained as an air traffic controller and served in that capacity until my retirement from the Marine Corps after serving for 20 years.  Following retirement I taught air traffic control for the federal government at the University of Oklahoma until 1992.  I moved to Heber Springs in 1992 and have lived here continuously since then. In 1993 I accepted a part time position with the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department. In 1996 I became a full time employee and have worked there continuously since then. Early in my career at the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office I served as the Jail Administrator. As a Sergeant I now supervise the court security and prisoner transport functions and act as the liaison between the Sheriff’s Office and the courts.

I believe the office of sheriff represents one of the purest forms of democracy in that it answers  directly  to the citizens it represents. I want to thank my family, friends, fellow law enforcement professionals and the trusted community leaders who have encouraged me to seek this office and are supporting my efforts to attain it.  I look forward to their continuing support,  as well as attaining the support of our county citizens,  as I work toward  becoming your next sheriff. Please go to the polls and help elect me to be your next sheriff.  I look forward to serving you.
