EdenSong Concert in Heber Springs

December 4, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

“What sweeter music can we bring than a carol for to sing?” This most sincere seasonal query was penned by poet Robert Herrick (1591-1674), and has been set in a lovely anthem by John Rutter, well-known contemporary choral composer and arranger. Indeed, sweet music of the season will be on the program as EdenSong Regional Chorale performs on Sunday, December 4, 2022. The concert will be presented at 2:00 at Heber Springs First Baptist Church (201 North 4th Street), where the group regularly rehearses from September to May each year.

EdenSong Chorale has been in existence since 1990, and with exception of Covid-era-missed concerts, has been making beautiful music at least twice a year since that date. The group sings under direction of Analea Tomlinson Cook of Fairfield Bay and is accompanied by Dr. Tammie Burger of Heber Springs. The 26-member chorale includes majority Cleburne County residents, but also represents Van Buren and White Counties in the membership. (As a side note, interested singers are welcome to contact Analea Cook or Board President Patricia Carlin about becoming involved!)

This December, in addition to other selections, the Chorale will present a cantata entitled “Christmas Is Coming,” with narration provided by Jefferson Craddock of Heber Springs. Also on the program will be a piano-flute duet by Dr. Tammie Burger and Flautist Gretchen Klanke. Another treat will be a men’s quartet made up of David Baeder, Justin Baeder, Mike Szabo and Dee Spann. Additional choral pieces by John Rutter, in addition to ‘What Sweeter Music,’ are programmed, as are selections by Gustav Holst, J. Paul Williams and Anna Laura Page, a Christmas Carol Sing-Along, and the annual finale, Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.” EdenSong’s goal is to prepare music of quality and perform it well. The audience is sure to find something to please every musical taste in the selections on each concert line-up.

While EdenSong Concerts are always FREE TO THE PUBLIC, donations are gratefully accepted to help keep the music going for another 30+ years! Thanks for supporting this choral effort; please mark your calendars and tell your friends and families to come with you. Questions? Email at EdenSongChorale@gmail.com and find the group on Facebook: EdenSongRegionalChorale. Hope to see you there.
