The Lyon College Regional Academic Day was held March 7. Junior and senior high students from 14 schools in the region participated in the math and science competition. The schools that competed were Bald Knob, Batesville, Batesville Junior High, Concord, Cotter, Cotter Junior High, Cushman, Highland, Mammoth Spring, Mountain Home, Mountain View, Norfork, Salem and Southside.
The 2009 Regional ACTM Math Contest is sponsored by the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics. The Science Competition is sponsored by Lyon College.
Norfork High School took first place in the Senior High Division II category with Cotter High School taking secondplace. In Division I, Batesville won first place with Mountain View taking home second place.
In the junior high divisions, Mountain Home won first place in the first division with Batesville Junior High School earning second place. Mammoth Spring took first place in the second division with Cotter taking second place.
First, second, and third place winners of the Regional Math Contest will be invited by the Arkansas Council of Teachers of Mathematics to participate in the State Math Contest, which will be held April 25 at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway
