Arkansas Highway Commission Approves Bid for Improvements in Independence County

INDEPENDENCE COUNTY (3-10) – The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Independence County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The purpose of this project is to resurface 2.2 miles of various city streets in Pleasant Plains, to include: Peaceful Dr., Hayes, Wish St., and E. Wood St.; and 2.9 miles of various city streets in Southside, to include: Brushy Rd., South Fork Rd., Section Ln. and Bobbye Ln.

Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville was awarded the contract at $508,012.84. Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in mid-2017.
