An 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper Pvt. Joshua D. Kipte, 28, of Sherwood was found unresponsive in his barracks room

FORT BRAGG, N.C. – An 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper was found unresponsive in his barracks room here Friday morning and was later
pronounced dead.

The incident is currently under investigation.

Pvt. Joshua D. Kipte, 28, of Sherwood, Ark., was an automated logistical specialist in D Troop, 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade
Combat Team.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Pvt. Joshua Kipte,” said Lt. Col. Eric A. Baus, commander of the 1-73rd. “His
Paratrooper brethren will honor his memory through their continued excellence and service.”

Kipte joined the Army in June 2012, attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, S.C. and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Va. He then
completed the U. S. Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, Ga., and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division in Dec. 2012.

His awards and decorations include the the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the
Parachutist Badge.
