City of Southside to Hold 1st Annual Fun Fest

Saturday, June 27th will mark the First Annual Fun Fest for the newly formed City of Southside. The event will serve as a fundraiser for the new city to cover election and legal fees. The Fun Fest will take place on the Southside Middle School grounds and P.E. Building from 4-8 p.m. Activities will include a bounce house courtesy of Keller Bounce Houses, face painting, buggy rides courtesy of the Anderson Brothers, and a live auction by Ronnie Gay featuring items from area businesses. Auction items include gift certificates to restaurants, oil changes for gas and diesel vehicles, a service job for an ATV/MTV, a car detail, and a variety of other items. Hot dogs, chili dogs, and nachos, sponsored by Scott and Vicki Kallsnick, Kallsnick’s Inc., will be available for purchase. “We have been overwhelmed by the support of area businesses giving great donations;” said Shelia Smithy, an event organizer, “nearly every business asked has given something.”

The Fun Fest will begin at 4 p.m. on the Southside Middle School grounds with games, food, and buggy rides. At 5:30 the auction will begin in the P.E. Building immediately followed by a public forum. The forum, mediated by Brandon Gay, will be held with the candidates running for local office. The public will have the opportunity to ask candidates questions about their vision and goals for the City of Southside.
