Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02): Plan Will Ensure State and Federal Workers Are Paid and Made Whole

WASHINGTON – Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement regarding his ongoing effort to reopen the federal government:

“As I have said all along, shutting down the federal government is terrible policy, but President Obama and Democratic Leader Harry Reid wanted a government shutdown for political purposes and refused to work with the House to find a solution.  I continue to work with both Republicans and Democrats to find a way to open the federal government.  I have introduced legislation that will ensure that federal and state employees affected by the government shutdown will be paid retroactively and made whole.  In past shutdowns, furloughed employees received full pay, and this one should be no different.  These folks did not ask for this shutdown, and they shouldn’t miss a paycheck because of it.”
