Fairfield Bay Community Education Center, associated with the Arkansas State University opens Sept 6

The new Fairfield Bay Community Education Center, associated with the Arkansas State University – Heber Springs, is scheduled to open for classes on September 6.    The Center is located in the Lakewood Village Mall directly over the Spare Time Bowling and Fun Center.

Pre-registration was held last Thursday, August 11 with 38 enrollments.  The official registration will be at 9 am until 1 pm at the Center on August 31.  Presently, a list of scheduled classes may be picked up at the following locations:  City of Fairfield Bay office and the Fairfield Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, Fairfield Bay Library, Heber Springs State Bank, and the Art Gallery & Studio in the mall area.  

Examples of classes are:  Computer Basics, Word, Excel; Digital Photography; Oil and Watercolor painting, Spanish, Bridge and Chess, Bowling, “Stars, Constellations, and Planets”, and more.  Most classes meet once a week for five (5) weeks, and the costs for the five (5) weeks range from $20 – 50.    There is an annual enrollment fee of $25 to cover expenses at the Center; tuition fees will be paid to ASU-Heber Springs.  (The computer room will be available from 3:30 – 6 pm for area students enrolled in online college courses.)
