Spring Creek Sand Mining Permit Hearing

The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) will hold a public hearing on a permit for Spring Creek Materials, Inc. to mine sand and gravel from Sandy Creek. The hearing will be held on Tuesday, July 7, at 6:00 p.m. in the Melbourne Community Room. The proposed mining site is three miles east of Oxford. Sandy Creek is a tributary of the Strawberry River. Anyone from the public can attend. To reach the Community Room, turn west at the intersection of Highways 9 and 69. Take Highway 9 two blocks and turn onto Municipal Drive to the Melbourne City Hall Building. For more information, go to http://www.friendsoftherivers.org
