WCMC Hosts Christmas Party for PrimeTimes Members

White County Medical Center recently hosted its annual Christmas party for the members of its PrimeTimes program. PrimeTimes, a program designed for people ages 55 and older, encourages healthy living and health education among adults as their healthcare needs change.

Cardiologist Katherine Durham, M.D. of White County Medical Center Cardiology Clinic, spoke to the group at the event about cardiovascular disease in women. While heart health education has improved in recent years, heart disease remains to be the number one cause of death for women in the United States, according to the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign. Statistics show that 45 percent of all deaths in women can be credited to heart disease; more than all cancers combined. Durham also discussed the importance of taking preventative measures and knowing one’s risk of heart disease, including weight, physical activity level and cholesterol levels.

Ray Montgomery, WCMC President/CEO welcomed the group and entertainment was provided by musician, Sam Morris of Searcy. PrimeTimes members also enjoyed snacks and fellowship with other members.

In addition to the Christmas party and other events, membership in PrimeTimes also offers access to several monthly support groups, health education programs and health screenings. For more information about joining PrimeTimes, please contact the White County Medical Center PrimeTimes office at (501) 380-1050 or via email at marketing@wcmc.org.
