A Day of Caring is a community-wide outreach program designed to help the uninsured and underinsured residents of White County. Free medical, dental and eye screenings will be provided; additional services available include haircuts, and pap exams. Items such as school supplies, Bibles, socks, underwear, diapers, bags of groceries, and personal care products will also be distributed. Various health screenings, such as blood pressure checks, and social service information will be provided. Please note that children must be present to receive school supplies, socks/underwear and diapers.
Partnerships between WCMC and community businesses and organizations, along with hundreds of nurses, WCMC associates and volunteers throughout Searcy, are vital to the success of this outreach program. Last year, more than 600 extraordinary volunteers united to provide needed services that helped 1,665 people. Here’s how:
Medical exams 77
Eye screenings 71
Household supplies 545 bags
Food Bank 520 bags
School supplies 600 bags
“Our hospital looks forward to A Day of Caring each year, and we strive to serve as many people as possible through this outreach,” said WCMC Marketing Director Brooke Pryor. “It is incredible to see our community unite for this important cause. We are so thankful to the hundreds of volunteers, organizations and businesses that contribute to this medical mission and help us create a healthy community.”
WCMC welcomes new businesses to serve as corporate sponsors for A Day of Caring; WCMC also invites clubs, churches and organizations to be involved through collecting personal care items including bar soap, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, and diapers. Volunteers are needed to help set up on Friday, August 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at the mission on Saturday, August 3, from 8 a.m. to Noon.
