Students in five rural Arkansas schools will have additional computers to use thanks to U.S. Senator John Boozman’s (R-AR) participation in a program that channels surplus computers into classrooms across the country.
The U.S. Senate’s Computers for Schools program helps public schools stay connected in the digital age by donating computers no longer used in the Senate to public schools for use in their classrooms.
“I appreciate this opportunity to help Arkansas students as it is critical that our schools have the tools necessary for learning in the 21st century. This program puts surplus equipment to good use and helps schools meet their technology needs,” Boozman said.
The following schools are recipients of five computers:
· Decatur High School
· Malvern Elementary
· Augusta Elementary
· Barton High School
· England High School
After learning that Decatur High School would receive computers Superintendent Jeff Gravette said, “Decatur Public Schools would like to thank Senator Boozman’s office for the donation of computers for our classrooms. These computers will serve as much needed upgrades to older machines we have needed to replace. We appreciate your support of public education in Arkansas.”
David Tollett, Superintendent of the Barton Lexa School District, also thanked Boozman. “The Barton-Lexa School District would like to thank Senator Boozman for providing us with five new computers for student use. These computers will be used for seniors to fulfill college admissions standards, complete concurrent credit work, and apply for scholarships. Thank you Senator Boozman for your support of Arkansas public schools and our students’ aspirations to go to college. #ThanksForCaring,” Tollett said.
