Boozman Statement on Retirement of Senator Thad Cochran

WASHINGTON- U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR), a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, released the following statement regarding Senator Thad Cochran’s retirement announcement:

“The Senate is losing one of its most respected voices with the announced retirement of Senator Thad Cochran. Senator Cochran took me under his wing when I was elected to this chamber, and I could not have asked for a better mentor. Not only did I learn a great deal from his tutelage, I also had the pleasure of working alongside him as we advocated for policies that helped the entire Delta region. Senator Cochran was a trusted neighbor and tremendous friend to Arkansas.

Senator Cochran’s calm demeanor and vast expertise helped overcome the enormous challenges we faced in the Appropriations Committee. His steady hand will be missed in the Senate, but we all wish him well in retirement. We are all better off as a result of his service to our nation.”
