Title: Civil War Re-Enactment near Melbourne
Location: Highway 9 southwest from Melbourne, turn left on Country Road 3 for three and a half miles
Description: On Saturday, May 1st at 3:00 p.m. cannon fire and musket volleys will highlight the Seventh Arkansas Volunteer Infantry re-enactment of the January, 1864, battle of Lunenburg. At 5:00 p.m. the Izard County Historical and Genealogical Society will commemorate the battle by unveiling an Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Historical Marker. The public is invited to the Lunenburg Community Center for both events. Take Highway 9 southwest from Melbourne, turn left on Country Road 3 for three and a half miles.
