Cotton Statement on Reports the Obama Administration Blocked Arms Deal with Taiwan

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement on reports that the Obama administration blocked a last-minute arms sale to Taiwan in December:

“President Obama’s decision to halt this arms sale to Taiwan at the 11th hour was nonsensical. The new administration should revive the deal and return to the longstanding U.S. policy of strengthening Taiwan’s ability to defend its democracy. I will continue to work with my colleagues in the Senate and the Trump administration to put the U.S.-Taiwan defense relationship on solid ground.”
