Description: The Wm. Carl Garner Visitor Center will host a free public screening of the documentary “Disfarmer: A portrait of America” Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. This documentary features many locals sharing their knowledge and views of Mike Meyer also known as “ Disfarmer “ and interviews with photographers, collectors and gallery owners who helped bring Disfarmer’s work to the public. Disfarmer, who was virtually unknown outside of the local area, became an internationally known photographer after his death. His portraits of Cleburne County residents captured the strong character of rural America from 1939 to 1946. This documentary provides a reveling glimpse into the history of the people of Heber Springs and Cleburne County. “Disfarmer: A Portrait of America” produced by Dennis Mohr debuted as the opening night selection at the 2010 Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival. Make plans to come out to the Visitor Center for a Sunday afternoon matinee viewing of this unique and historical film.
