Five Harding University staff members were presented with Distinguished Service Awards during the annual faculty and staff dinner on campus April 15.
Penny Hitt, Morris Seawel, Robbie and Mona Shackelford, and Elaine Wade are the 2010-11 award recipients.
Hitt has been a member of the Harding Academy staff for 19 years. She works daily with 3- and 4-year-old preschoolers.
Seawel has worked for the University since 1999. He serves as associate director of admissions with primary responsibilities for recruiting in the Southeastern states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
The Shackelfords received the award as a couple, marking only the third time the honor has been presented to a husband and wife. Robbie has been a member of the staff for 23 years and currently serves as the onsite director of the Harding University in Florence program in Italy. Mona has been on staff for 15 years and serves as associate director of HUF.
Wade joined the human resources office in 1992. She is a benefit specialist and performs duties including processing insurance claims.
All five staff members were presented with a check and framed certificate commemorating the award.
