Conway Women’s Chorus Christmas Concert

The first Christmas night was a night of joy and wonder. Come and celebrate the earth changing event of Christ’s birth with the Conway Women’s Chorus A Night of Joy. Listen to Christmas Pipes, originally arranged for Celtic Woman, Niles arrangement of I Wonder as I Wander and Joy to the World with a Latin beat just to mention a few! The duet from Handel’s “Judas Maccabaeus”, Sing for Joy, has been arranged for women’s chorus and perfectly reflects the exuberance of the season. Selections from the classical repertoire, as well as folk music from the Appalachians, will give an air of reflection and festivity.

Also joining in will be Piano 4-te and Friends performing piano duets, trios and quartets. It may be a fight for the keyboards, but you will enjoy it all. The children, ages 9-17, will open the show with traditional holiday tunes such as Jingle Bell Rock, Silver Bells and a humorous rendition called Jingled Bells. Included in A Night of Joy are instrumental settings of What Child is This, Deck the Halls, and Angels We Have Heard on High.

Lastly, and most importantly, our sing-alongs! We’re showcasing some of the old traditional carols and need ‘joyful’ voices from the audience. We’ll celebrate Christmas on Sunday, December 10, at 2:00 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 2310 East Oak Street. Admission is free.
