Holiday Concert Features Symphony, Ballet, Choir

The Conway Symphony Orchestra returns with the must-attend holiday spectacular, Tinsel and Tutus, Saturday, Dec. 6, 7:30pm at Reynolds Performance Hall in Conway. Bring the family and enjoy all your holiday favorites, plus performances from Voices of Central Arkansas children’s and youth choirs, and the Chancel Ringers of First United Methodist Church. Back by popular demand, the Arkansas Festival Ballet will join the orchestra in the second half for highlights of The Nutcracker. During intermission, watch out for a jolly old elf dressed in red!
Tickets are available at the Reynolds box office, (501) 450-3265, or ConwaySymphony.org, at $20-$38 for adults, $6 for children/students, $12 for UCA faculty/staff and a discount rate of $17 for groups of ten or more. The concert is underwritten by Conway Corporation with guest artist support from Raymond James and Smith Ford.

“This year’s concert is so jam-packed with amazing music you’ll think Christmas came early!” exclaims conductor Israel Getzov. “You’ll hear music from Frozen, selections from John Williams’ classic score from “Home Alone,” Manheim Steamroller’s “Silent Night” and of course the amazing Arkansas Festival Ballet dancing your favorite scenes from The Nutcracker.”

The Conway Symphony Orchestra Guild is hosting the Nutcracker Sweets children’s event before the concert, from 6:00-7:00 at Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center, next to the performance hall. “Children and adults will fall under the spell of the music and dance of the CSO Nutcracker production,” says Guild president Mary Mosley. “Come early and enjoy children’s crafts, Nutcracker stories, meeting the ballerinas and the conductor, and hot cocoa and cookies.” Tickets for Nutcracker Sweets are $5 for children, (accompanying adults are free), and can be purchased at ConwaySymphony.org.

Now celebrating its 30th season, the Conway Symphony Orchestra brings professional concerts, exciting guest artists and high-quality music to the Central Arkansas community. The 2014-15 season is underwritten by the Log Cabin Democrat/Women’s Inc. For more information on concerts and other programs, visit ConwaySymphony.org or call (501) 269-1066.
