Jacksonport State Park to conduct Pearl Stringing Necklace Workshop Jan 26

Jacksonport State Park is conducting a Pearling Stringing Necklace Workshop on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Fresh water pearls were once part of a booming mussel industry in Arkansas. By demonstrating the skill of stringing pearls, the Park Interpreter is teaching workshop participants how to make their own freshwater pearl necklace to take home. We will also learn how freshwater pearls were discovered in Arkansas and how they were harvested from the White River. The Park Interpreter is available for any questions you may have so bring your knowledge and your enthusiasm as we engage in this hands-on activity. After the workshop, you can tour the courthouse.

Costs of the program are $20 per person. There is a limit to the number of participants for the workshop, so make your reservations early. Please make your reservations for the workshop by January 23rd. All materials will be provided. The program hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will be held in the courthouse. The workshop is handicapped accessible.
