Join the Race Where Everyone Wins O Negative and B Type donors urged to call

Greg Biffle — driver of Roush Fenway Racing’s No. 16 Ford Fusion — has signed on again as a Red Cross spokesperson this 2009 racing season to help raise awareness about the ongoing need for blood donations. Greg encourages people to join the race where everyone wins by making a donation during the holiday weekend and earning bonus points on the Red Cross Racing website.

As part of the Red Cross Racing campaign, blood and platelet donors who try to donate with the Red Cross can visit RedCrossRacing.com, sign up for an account, track their donations and exchange points for themed prizes.

“I’m proud to be an American Red Cross blood donor,” said Biffle. “I give blood because it’s easy to do and helps support the community. I hope NASCAR fans across the country will join me this racing season by giving lifesaving blood as often as they can.”

Locally, the Red Cross has an overall two-day supply of blood; with O and B type blood at lower levels.  People are encouraged to take advantage of blood drives throughout the area to find a convenient time to donate blood.  People with O and B blood types are especially needed right now and new donors are always welcome.

We hope NASCAR fans will follow Greg Biffle’s lead and support the Red Cross by donating blood.“Red Cross Racing is a great opportunity for loyal NASCAR fans to become dedicated Red Cross blood donors.

Accident victims, cancer patients, people with sickle cell anemia, burn victims, surgery patients, children with leukemia and many others will need blood products during this holiday.  Your donation could make the difference to them and their families; it might even save someone’s life! Will you make a difference in someone’s life this summer?
