Melba Theater Announces Grand Opening Details

July 25, 2016 – Owners of the Melba Theater announce today that the Grand Opening, Red Carpet event for the Theater will be held on Friday, August 12th. Although they have been working feverishly to get everything in place for that first curtain call, they have experienced some unforeseen circumstances causing them to push back the Grand Opening date to August 12th. Co-Owner, Joe Shell says the Red Carpet event will no doubt be “an experience to remember”, falling in line with the new slogan the Theater has adopted.

“For the most part we have been right on schedule getting the seats redone, floors finished, new digital projector and Dolby surround sound installed,” says Shell excitedly. “We’ve had a hang up waiting to hear back from the theater companies giving us permission to show the movies we want to show at our Grand Opening.”

Owners are expecting an excited crowd of folks showing up at the Red Carpet event dressed in black tie, Hollywood style attire. Doors will open at 6:00 pm that evening and the show will begin with announcements made from the stage at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased in advance at the Citizens Bank main branch and WRD Entertainment. Seating is limited so you are encouraged to purchase your tickets in advance.

Attendees will enjoy a red carpet Hollywood style greeting. Ticket price includes a commemorative photo and gift bag as well as the experience of attending the Grand Opening movie and first show in the newly restored theater. Owners will begin with announcements then movie goers will view ‘Wizard of Oz’ shown on the new digital projector. The neon marquee will be shining once again for movie goers to adore as they head out after the show.

Co-Owner, Adam Curtwright says moving the event to August 12th was a tough choice as it coincides with the Watermelon Festival. “Part of why we are opening is to support our community and those around us. We hated to move the grand opening to a night during the festival, so our solution was to offer a later show that evening.” Owners announce an ‘Owl Show’ scheduled that same evening for those who may want to attend both the concert in Cave City, as well as, see a movie at the Melba on opening day.

Doors will open for the ‘Owl Show’ at 9:30 pm. Tickets may be purchased for $25 in advance at Citizens Bank main branch and WRD Entertainment. Attendees will be a part of the historic day as they view “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
