National Law Enforcement Memorial Day

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Law Enforcement Memorial Day, and set aside that week to be recognized as National Police Week.  This year, Police Week runs from May 14th through May 20th.  In cities all across the country, Law Enforcement Agencies will conduct ceremonies during Police Week to honor those officers that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.  In keeping with that tradition, and in honor of all those brave men and women that died in the line of duty, the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office will hold its first Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony on May 15, 2017, at 12pm.  The ceremony will be held on the North lawn of the Old Courthouse in Heber Springs.  As of today, there have been 38 Line-of-Duty-Deaths in 2017.  We are grateful to every one of these officers for their brave service and sacrifice; may they rest in peace , and may we continue in their absence.
