Ozarka College – Ash Flat to host Community Health Fair

The Practical Nursing Class at Ozarka College – Ash Flat will host a community health fair on April 30, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Several vendors will be on hand with information and to administer a variety of health exams. This event is open to everyone and admission is free.

“Part of becoming a nurse is providing opportunities and education to the public. The students in the Ash Flat nursing program wish to strengthen their support of the community by organizing the health fair and providing the man power needed to reach out to as many citizens as possible,” said Cheryl Ekenes, LPN instructor at Ozarka College.

Attendee’s may donate canned goods for Mission of Hope for an opportunity to win great door prizes donated by local businesses. White River Medical Center will be providing fasting cholesterol checks, HbA1C blood tests for known diabetics, body mass index measurements, and bone density evaluations.

The charge will be $15 total for all tests and interested attendees will need to fast the night before.

Many vendors will be available to perform eye exams, mammograms, preventative oral exams, spine adjustments and massages, and hearing exams. These services will all be free of charge. Health professionals will also be providing information regarding diabetes education, medical supply companies, emergency medical services, nutrition, and healthy lifestyles.

Community health fair participants are encouraged to stop by the American Red Cross Bloodmobile to donate blood at this event.
