Representative David Meeks, R-Conway bill to block health care mandate dies in Committee

Arkansas House Representative David Meeks of Conway, House Bill 1053 to block the Federal health insurance mandate in Arkansas failed in the House Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee with 7 “yes” votes and 12 “no” votes, Tuesday in a packed committee room.

Democrat, Representatives. Jeff Wardlaw of Warren and Sheilla Lampkin of Monticello and all five Republicans on the 20-member committee voted for the measure, Chairman Linda Tyler, D-Conway, did not vote.

“Unfortunately a lot of the Democrats decided to side with Obama and decided to play Washington politics,” says Meeks.
