Description: Summer is here and it’s the perfect time to plan a trip to Mountain View for a week-long get-away and craft experience at the Arkansas Craft School. The following classes will be offered through August 20, 2010:

· July 5 – 9: “Using Craft to Teach” In-service teacher’s workshop with Dusty Mitchell, David Dahlstedt, Dana Shaeffer and others. Get your In-service hours the fun way!

· July 12 – 14: “Ode to Ordinary” quilting workshop with Kay Thomas. Recreate the charm and appeal of beautiful yet functional daily-use quilted items.

· July 19 – 23: “Turning for Food” with Nick Cook. Need a pepper mill or a salad bowl? Nationally known wood turner Nick Cook can be your guide on our state-of-the-art wood turning lathes.

· July 26 – 30: “Glass Beadmaking” with Karen Stavert. A great way to get started with the fundamentals of glass bead making.

· August 2 – 6: “Tapestry Weaving” with Dana Shaeffer. Paint personal, tactile expressions with colorful yarns. Take-home looms provided.

· August 16 – 20: “Country Chairmaking” with Owen Rein. Work on a shaving horse with draw-knives to create your own hand-crafted stool in this time-honored way.

The Arkansas Craft School, located in Mountain View, Arkansas is dedicated to the education of aspiring and practicing craft artisans for success in the Creative Economy. The Craft School partners with the Arkansas Craft Guild and Ozarka College; and offers Continuing Education credits for all of its courses. Scholarship grants are available for most courses.
