The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas Power Update

The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas experienced peak outages of approximately 35,000 on Friday, Dec. 6. Electric cooperative crews and contractors had been on alert since earlier in the week.

Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative of Ozark and Rich Mountain Electric  Cooperative of Mena were the hardest hit, however many of the 17 electric distribution cooperatives were impacted by the storm.

Great strides in the restoration of electric service were made in the past 24 hours. Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative of Ozark and Rich Mountain Electric Cooperative of Mena report that 3,000 outages remain, down from approximately 7,300 at this time on Monday. The patience and understanding of those impacted is appreciated as crews are working as safety and efficiently as possible to complete the power restoration process.

Crews from across the state, including Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc., are on the ground at  the two cooperatives and working as efficiently and safely as possible to restore service. The cooperatives are thankful that the majority of Arkansas’ 500,000 members were spared from the destruction caused by the winter storm.

Restoration for the homes that can accept service is projected to be Wednesday evening.
