The UCA Dixieland Jazz Band, under the direction of Dr. Jackie Lamar, will celebrate the sounds of Mardi Gras at the Faulkner County Library on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7:00 PM.
The Dixieland Band performs in the traditional New Orleans style with banjo, tuba, drums, piano, sax, trumpet, trombone, and clarinet. The UCA Jazz Program is one of the strongest in the region. It offers students the opportunity to experience the diversity of jazz styles and literature with numerous performing opportunities.
Dr. Jackie Lamar, professor of saxophone is a member of the North American Saxophone Alliance, Secretary for Arkansas Jazz Educators, Music Teachers National Association, Phi Beta Mu, Sponsor for Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Fraternity, Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association, Arkansas Bandmasters Association.
