– The Arkansas CattleWomen Association is seeking entries for the 2013 Arkansas Beef Cookoff to be held on Saturday, March 2 in Conway. Over $2500 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the best dish in the Adult Category and the best dish in each of two age divisions of the Youth Category.
In the Adult Category, original recipes will be accepted with the following theme…
Steak Your Claim…Everyone loves a steak whether it’s grilled, broiled, or stir-fried. Any beef steak can be used in this category as long as the recipe can be completed within 30 minutes (marinating time included). The recipe can include any ingredients (seasonings, spices, sauces, etc.), but can total no more than 8 ingredients (not counting water, salt or cooking spray). Recipe should yield at least 4-6 servings.
In the Youth Categories, recipes for the Junior Division (7-9 grades) and the Senior Division (10-12 grades) will be accepted with the following theme…
Mom’s Favorite Beef Dish (or The Dish You Love That Mom Makes)…Mom is our first chef. We love the beef she cooks whether it’s an original recipe or from a cookbook. But, can you recreate that same recipe and wow the judges? Here’s your chance kids!
The recipes need to be completed in 30 minutes or less using up to 8 ingredients (not counting water, salt and cooking spray). Any beef cut may be used. Recipe should yield at least 4-6 servings.

WHO CAN ENTER:
In the Adult Category, you must be 18 years of age or older by January 1, 2013, and are a legal resident of Arkansas.
In the Youth Category, you must be in grades 7-9 for the Junior Division and grades 10-12 for the senior division.

- EMPLOYEES OF ANY NATIONAL OR STATE BEEF INDUSTRY ORGANIZATION, OR THEIR AGENCIES; AS WELL AS THEIR SPOUSES, PARENTS OR CHILDREN (REGARDLESS OF PRESENT PLACE OF RESIDENCE) OR ANYONE LIVING IN THE HOUSEHOLD OF ANY SUCH EMPLOYEE
- MEMBERS AND THEIR SPOUSES OF ARKANSAS CATTLEWOMEN’S ASSOCIATION, ARKANSAS CATTLEMEN’S ASSOCIATION, AMERICAN NATIONAL CATTLEWOMEN, OR THE NATIONAL CATTLEMEN’S BEEF ASSOCIATION.
JUDGING CRITERIA
All recipes in the Adult Category must be original and owned exclusively by the contestant. Previously published recipes, such as those for magazines or cookbooks, will be disqualified. The recipe judging criteria is as follows.
Taste……………………..50 points
Ease of Preparation……..35 points
Appearance………………15 points
By participating, entrants agree to these official rules and the decisions off the Arkansas CattleWomen Association, Arkansas Beef Council and the judges, which shall be final in all matters relating to the Arkansas Beef Cookoff. Rules are subject to change without notice.

IF YOUR RECIPE IS CHOSED AS A FINALIST
The finalists chosen will compete in the Arkansas Beef Cookoff to be held on Saturday, March 2, at the Conway Junior High School campus at 1815 Prince Street in Conway. You will be notified by phone if your recipe is chosen to compete. Further information about the competition will be relayed at that time. The contest will begin at 8 a.m.
