AARP’s Driver Safety Program salutes our military thisNovember with free driver safety courses

Torecognize and thank military veterans for their service, the AARP Driver SafetyProgram is offering a free classroom course to all military personnel —active duty, retired, guard or reserve — regardless of age, from Nov. 1through Nov. 30, 2011.

Thisoffer, which waives the normal course registration fee, is available toindividuals who serve or have served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force,Marines, National Guard/Reserves or Coast Guard. Spouses (including widows andwidowers) are also eligible to take the classroom course, free of charge.

TheArkansas Driver Safety Program is looking for individuals, groups or businessesto host locations where Driver Safety Program courses can be taught as part ofthis special promotion. Tolocate and register for an AARP Driver Safety course near you, visit www.aarp.org/findacourse or call1-888-AARP-NOW (888-227-7669). Pre-registration is required and participantswill be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to mention the”Veterans Promotion.” When you show up for the course, you will needto present a form of military identification. Examples include but are notlimited to a military ID, discharge papers (DD Form 214), American Legion card,dependent ID card (DD Form 1173), or a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) card.

Even the mostexperienced drivers can benefit from brushing up on their driving skills. TheAARP Driver Safety Program teaches valuable defensive driving techniques andprovides a refresher about the rules of the road. Plus, by completing theclassroom course you could qualify for an automobile insurance discount fromyour insurance company.
