The members of Alash are master throatsingers from Tuva, a tiny republic in Siberia,located at the geographical center of the Eurasian continent. The ancient artof throat singing, by which a single singer produces multiple notessimultaneously, developed among the nomadic herdsmen of the region. Alash arevirtuosi of this amazing vocal technique who accompany themselves on a varietyof fascinating instruments from their homeland.
The concert is presented by the Arkansas Craft School in keeping withits efforts to promote exploration, innovation and education in the arts.
Admission to the event is free, but tickets are required and supply is limited.
