On October 20, 2009, Cash’s White River Hoedown in Mountain View, Arkansas will host an Alaskan Folk Music Festival featuring Alaskan musicians Dave Stancliff, Robin Dale-Ford and Pat Fitzgerald. Sponsored by Triplet Hearing and Balance Centers, and Triplet On-line Travel, the concert is a benefit for the Arkansas Craft School.
Award winning musician, Dave Stancliff hails from Tok, Alaska. His show, Songs of the Last Frontier is said to be a “celebrated landmark presentation.” About his work, he says “Alaska writes the music I sing and play; it is my privilege to share it with you…” Robin Dale Ford and Fairbanks, Alaska native Pat Fitzgerald are known for their solo recordings as well as their work as a duo. Their home, a log cabin outside of Fairbanks is also the location of 10th Planet Records – their label as well as their recording studio. Robin’s solo work featuring banjo and voice, has been described as “hauntingly beautiful.” Individually and as a couple, Robin and Pat have opened for artists such as Don McLean, Janis Ian, Loudon Wainwright, Iris Dement and Allison Krauss. Dave, Robin and Pat will be joined by musician Representative Bryce Edgmon, as well as several surprise guests. A documentary film about Alaska will be shown immediately preceding the concert; and the concert itself will be filmed.
Advance tickets are $15.00 each for adults and $6.00 each for children under 12. They may be purchased at Citizen’s Bank, First Service Bank, Centennial Bank, and Aunt Minnie’s Little Yellow House in Mountain View, as well as at all Triplet Hearing Center locations. Tickets will be $18.00/$9.00 at the door on the day of the performance. The ticket window at Cash’s White River Hoedown will open at 1:00 on the day of the show, with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. and the festival beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The concert is a benefit for the Arkansas Craft School. Located in Mountain View, Arkansas; the school is dedicated to the education of aspiring and practicing craft artisans for success in the Creative Economy. The Craft School partners with the Arkansas Craft Guild, the Ozark Folk Center and Ozarka College; and offers Continuing Education credits for all of its courses. Scholarship grants are available for most courses.
