Annual Ceremony to Honor Arkansas’s Pearl Harbor Survivors

LITTLE ROCK, AR—Secretary of State Charlie Daniels today announced the annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony will take place on Monday, December 7 at 3:00 pm in the second floor rotunda of the State Capitol.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will commemorate the 169 Arkansans who served our country during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and honor the approximately 30 survivors for their service.

Gene McVay, department commander for the Arkansas Department of the American Legion, will address the group following a presentation of the colors and two-bell ceremony.

During this Saturday’s annual Capitol lighting ceremony, Secretary Daniels will illuminate the blue lights above the bronze doors of the Capitol spelling out “Peace” in honor of our veterans and those who are currently serving our nation this holiday season.
