Arkansas Guard gives water support to Van Buren County by delivering 7,000 gallons of water to backup downed water system

CAMP JOSEPH T. ROBINSON, Ark. – The Arkansas National Guard deployed six water tankers today in response to a call for support from the Van Buren County Department of Emergency Management as a result of a downed water system there.

A 5,000 gallon water tanker provided by Camp Robinson’s Institute Support Unit deployed to support the county hospital, while the 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team deployed five 400-gallon water tankers to support various communities in the affected county. The smaller tankers, known as “water buffaloes,” will be stationed at various fire departments in the county for use as water distribution points for members of the community.

Along with answering this 36th call for community support this year, the Arkansas National Guard continues to have approximately 350 Soldiers and Airmen deployed overseas in support of operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo.
