Arkansas Highway Commission Approves Bid for Improvements in Izard County

The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Izard County, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.

The purpose of this project is to resurface 2.6 miles of selected sections of city streets in Franklin to include: S. Main Street, Military Road, and N. Main Street; and 2.1 miles of in Melbourne to include: Knob Creek Road and Jumbo Road; and 1.3 miles of city streets in Mount Pleasant to include: Ash Trail, Pearl Drive/School Street, Pearl Drive, Barren Fork Road, Reeves Street/Circle Drive, and McSpadden Drive.

Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville was awarded the contract at $643,867.76.

Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Completion is expected in mid 2018.
