Arkansas National Guard support the communities of East End and Scotland

CAMP JOSEPH T. ROBINSON, Ark. – The Arkansas National Guard responded to calls for support in the communities of East End and Scotland late last night as the state was still being hammered by the severe storms that left the two communities devastated.

The Guard was tasked to provide each of the two communities with a 50-man county support team in order to get help on the ground as soon as possible.
The teams, which include 15 vehicles each, were tasked to support civil authorities with search and rescue operations as well as providing security to the affected communities.

The Arkansas Army National Guard’s 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team provided the personnel and equipment to support the mission in Scotland, while the Arkansas Air National Guard’s 189th Airlift Wing was tasked to support East End.

In addition to the personnel support, the Guard received two additional missions this morning to provide a 500 gallon water tanker to Scotland and a 100k generator to Jackson County.

A further assessment of the damage is anticipated today and the Guard stands ready to respond as necessary in the event more support is required.
