Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre Fall Membership Party on Oct. 21

The Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre will hosta Fall Membership Party on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at the home of Jeff and Mary RuthMarotte, 369 Pippinpost Drive in Conway.

The party’s theme is “Set Sail with Shakespeare.” RebekahScallet, producing artistic director of AST, said the theme was a hint of thelineup for the 2012 Festival.

“In the productions I have chosen for next summer, thecharacters are all involved in journeys that lead them to discover new facetsof themselves and the world,” Scallet said. “At the membership party,AST will be taking the first step on our 2012 journey as I announce the titlesthat will be performed.

“We want to build excitement for our 2012 season andencourage people to get involved with Shakespeare through our membershipprogram.”

Membership is available to anyone who makes a donation to thetheatre.

Perks such as invitations to “members-only” partiesand events during the year and during the summer season, access to specialdiscounts, and having members’ names printed in the summer program book,go along with membership.

The event will include food, drink and music. Appetizers anddesserts will correspond with the nautical theme. A live band specializing incovers of The Strokes will play. Door prizes will include tickets to anArkansas Travelers game, UCA Theatre productions, the 2012 Festival andT-shirts.

Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre is the state’s only professionalShakespeare company, housed on the campus of the University of Central  Arkansas. Each summer, AST offers fullproductions of a range of Shakespeare’s works, as well as other plays andmusicals that help fulfill AST’s mission to entertain, engage, and enrich thecommunity.
