Arkansas State Fiddle Championship Aug.20-22 at Ozark Folk Center State Park

Fiddle music is a defining sound of the Ozarks. That tradition is celebrated during the annual Arkansas State Fiddle Championship being held at Ozark Folk Center State Park Aug. 20-22.

Three day events include a Thursday workshop with Betse Ellis as well as contests both Friday (Old Time) and Saturday (Contemporary). The contests begin at 10:00 a.m. each day including youth, junior, senior and open categories. Park in the large parking lot ride the free shuttle service to the large auditorium front entrance.

“In addition to the contests and workshops, we have great performances lined up from Betse Ellis Violet Hensley, Billy Mathews and the Cobb Brothers, there is going to be some great music” says Music Director Daren Dortin.

The Ozark Folk Center State Park is located at 1032 Park Avenue in Mountain View. Follow the signs to the Ozark Folk Center State Park, less than a mile from the Courthouse Square in downtown Mountain View.  The park may also be reached by taking Hwy 5/9/14 (Sylamore Ave) to Jimmy Driftwood Parkway, which leads directly to the park entrance.
