On Friday and Saturday, September 24th and 25th, the Ozark Folk Center hosted the 2010 Arkansas State Fiddle Championship. During the two day event, which was attended by large, enthusiastic crowds, all four of the competitions were judged by Travis Inman, Pete Brown and Roger Fountain.
The winners in the Senior Division were, in First Place, Brode Morgan of Little Rock, AR; Second Place, Fuz Buhrmester of Jonesboro, AR; Third Place, Dewey Mike Broome of Mountain View, AR.
The winners in the Junior Division were, in First Place, Michael Thompson of Rose, OK; Second Place Adam Barton of Springfield, MO; Third Place, Monica Davanzo of Conway, AR.
The winners in the Open Division were, in First Place, Douglas Thompson of Rose, OK; Second Place Tim Trawick of Conway, AR; Third Place Shane Keys of Little Rock, AR.
The Overall Winner in the Playoffs on Saturday night was Douglas Thompson of Rose, OK. Jonathan Trawick of Conway, AR won the Special Accompanist Award as outstanding backup musician overall.
Congratulations to all of the Contestants! Their participation made this year’s Fiddle Championship a huge success, a lot of fun and provided outstanding Fiddling skills and talent.
