Artist League Sponsors Free Oil Painting Grey-Scale Demonstrations at Fairfield Bay July 18th

Artist Nelson Scott will give a free grey scale painting demonstration on Monday, July 18th, from 10:00 a.m. to noon in Fairfield Bay at Bayside Studio, at the corner of Greenwood Rd. and Highway 330, next to Fire Station #2 near the Marina Rd. Members and guests who are interested in art are invited to attend and watch or paint along.

The art session will feature a demonstration using black and white oil paints. People are encouraged to bring supplies and paint along, such as odorless paint thinner, black and white oil paint, one or more brushes, canvas, and table easel. He will provide visual references for the class, saying he “wants to take things a little bit out of the box.” Scott will also have extra hand-stretched 16” x 20” canvases available to purchase for $9, if anyone needs one for this session or to take home.

Scott moved to Fairfield Bay five years ago and is a new member of the North Central Arkansas Artist League. He is a self-taught bipolar artist, married, and has a daughter who is entering 6th grade this fall. He currently has a solo exhibit at Greers Ferry Library, and won Best of Show in oil painting last year at the Arkansas State Fair for his grey scale painting of Nikola Tesla. Art runs in his family: his biological father was a successful artist in Michigan who worked for the Fenton Historical Society preserving old buildings through art. Two half-brothers are successful commercial artists as well.

This program is sponsored by the NCA Artist League, which presents monthly visual art programs for members and guests throughout the year. The Artist League welcomes all levels of artists, from beginning to advanced. For further information or to join the Artist League, talk to any member or call the NCAAL Program Chair, at 745-6615.
