Arts in Education Residency Completed by Clayton Scott and Batesville Junior High

Poet and Educator, Clayton Scott, visited Batesville Junior High School January 6 – 10 for an Arts-In-Education residency, working with 6th grade students in Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Moran’s classrooms. Scott uses innovative and energetic teaching approaches to inspire students in creative writing by using poetry as the vehicle. The residency culminated in a “poetry slam”, where selected students recited their poems and competed as finalists.

The Arts in Education program is provided through a partnership with Batesville and Southside School Districts and the Batesville Area Arts Council as well as supported in part by the Arkansas Arts Council, which is an agency of the Arkansas Department of Heritage and the National Endowment for the arts.
