Ash Flat and Mountain View Nursing Graduates Honored at Ozarka

Melbourne  –Practical Nursing students in the Ozarka College Ash Flat and Mountain View 11- month programs were honored at Recognition Ceremonies on June 26 and 29, 2009.

The Ash Flat class held their event at the lecture hall of the Ozarka College – Ash Flat on June 26, 2009.  Students completing their studies in practical nursing were: Monica Alphin of Pocahontas Darla Lambert of Mammoth Spring, Kim Boyd of Horseshoe Bend, Patricia McCollum of Salem, Ginger Buster of Cherokee Village, Vonda McGaha of Batesville, Angela Chastain of Imboden, Cedric V. Morley II of Poughkeepsie, Victoria Earl of Salem, Robert Morrow of Cherokee Village, Michelle Erickson of Pocahontas, LaDonna Qualls of Ash Flat, Faye James of Cave City, Charity Schaufler of Salem, Crystal Johnson of Franklin, Lisa Smith of Batesville, Kimberly Anne Jones of Williford, Gladys L. Sparacio of Hardy, and Shelly Whetstone of Cherokee Village.

After Ozarka Vice President of Student Services, Ron Helm welcomed guests attending the ceremony; and Darla Lambert offered the Invocation; student, Michelle Erickson opened the ceremony and the class presented a slide show with help from Connie Esparza.

Awards and honors were presented by Faye James, Charity Schaufler, and nursing faculty.  This semester’s Florence Nightingale Award went to Darla Lambert  This award is given to a student each year who exemplifies the true meaning of nursing with hard work and a true dedication to the profession.

Director of Nursing and Allied Health Division Chair, Ruby Johnson, instructor, Rebecca Yauilla, and family members presented graduates with caps, pins and lamps.  Johnson then offered closing remarks and student, Charity Schaufler closed with the Benediction.

Students and their guests then enjoyed a reception organized and prepared by the students.  Two incoming nursing students to the Ash Flat program, Tenille Ellison and Aaron Wayman, greeted and served for the event.

The Mountain View class held their event at the Ozark Folk Center on June 29, 2009.  Students completing their studies in practical nursing were: Sandra Barnes of Mountain View, Amy Gay of Mountain View, Mollie Blain of Mountain View, Ashton Glenn of Mountain View, Melanie Bradford of Fairfield Bay, Teresa Hightower of Batesville, Tina Browder of Mountain View, Carla McGranahan of Mountain View, Sesaley Bunch of Mountain View, Lisa Murray of Mountain View, Holly Chitwood of Mountain View, Jennifer Phillips of Fifty-Six, Brandy Dixon of Batesville, and Brittany Wilson of Harriet.

After Ozarka Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Mike DeLong welcomed guests attending the ceremony; and Dr. Wright Pillow offered the Invocation; student, Jennifer Phillips presented a slide presentation for the class.

Students and their guests then enjoyed a reception at the Skillet Restaurant at the Ozarka Folk Center.  Greeter for the event was Amber Lee and candle lighters were Rhonda Moore and Rachel Gates.
