ASMSA admissions counselors visiting local schools Faulkner & Van Buren Counties Nov 9-10

Arkansas School for Mathematics Sciences and the Arts admissions counselors will be visiting schools in Faulkner and Van Buren counties during the week of Nov. 7, 2011

Faulkner County – 

Mt. Vernon-Enola High School – Nov. 10, at 10:30 a.m.

 Van Buren County – 

South SideHigh School – Nov. 9, at 10:15 am.

Clinton High School – Nov. 9, at noon

The admissions staff will talk to students about the school and qualifications for attending. ASMSA, located in downtown Hot Springs, is one of 13 public residential high schools in the country dedicated to educating high school juniors and seniors with a special aptitude for science, math and technology.

Application is open to all Arkansas sophomores who meet the educational criteria. All students receive free tuition, room and board. Students enrolling now will live in the new residence halls currently under construction.

ASMSA offers a variety of courses, all taught at the college level. Many ASMSA graduates begin college at the sophomore level, and some even begin at the junior level. The 86 students graduating in 2011 received more than $15 million in scholarship offers.

ASMSA also offers extracurricular activities such as band, choir, drama, step dance, swing dance, yearbook, and more than 30 clubs and organizations.

ASMSA will host an open house for prospective students and their families from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 12. Tours of the school will be available every half hour beginning at 9 a.m. Students will have the opportunity to talk to current students and teachers.
