Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund for Independence County Awards Scholarships

Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund for Independence County held a drive-through scholarship awards ceremony on February 24th at the Southside School campus, awarding nine single-parent recipients. The award ceremony included special character guests, Bell, Beauty and the Beast, Marshall, Paw Patrol, and Minion, Despicable Me.   

Scholarship recipients were provided with the following mini workshops, Tire Safety, Internet safety for all the family, Safe Sleep, and Kindness. ASPSF volunteers Kandace Sherman, Jessica Marks, Kathy McKinney, Haley Pitts, and Amy Foree were on hand to provide one on one instruction for each workshop as well as providing free backpacks to the children of each recipient. Participants in the workshops received a tire gauge, informational booklets, and other door prizes. 

Spring scholarships were awarded to Asha Jones, Wendie Briggs, Tiffany Traw, Elizabeth Pulley, Pamela Bohannon, Jennifer Sterling, Asha Jones, Tracy Gammill, and Kailee McGhee.     

For 30 years, Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund has worked to create stronger, more educated, and more self-sufficient families. ASPSF opens doors for low-income single parents, helping them pursue education, secure employment and transform the future for their families.
