The Batesville Area Arts Council is pleased to present For My Better Self, an exhibition by Marlie Allgood, at the BAAC Gallery on Main (226 E Main St) June 21 – July 30, 2022.
Marlie Allgood is an oil painter living in Northwest Arkansas. She earned her B.F.A in studio
art from the University of Central Arkansas in 2018 and currently works as a Studio Educator at Crystal Bridges Museum, where she teaches art classes and creates educational programming.
In For My Better Self, Allgood documents moments in time from her childhood and upbringing, representing the endless possibilities of the future. “Memories are blurry. My artistic practice respects who I was as a child. I value the independent choices of my younger self and the things she loved. I treasure and collect material items combined with photographs from throughout my life. Then, I paint them as a story to guide.” Please join us for the opening reception to meet the artist and learn more about her work.
