BA/BFA Juried UCA Senior Exhibition Reception Set For Baum Gallery Nov 14

  The fall 2010 BA/BFA Juried Senior Exhibition, an exhibition by graduating UCA art majors, will be available for viewing at the University of Central Arkansas’s Baum Gallery of Fine Art Nov. 11-Dec. 2.

Opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Sunday, Nov. 14 from 2-4 p.m. in McCastlain Hall’s Baum Gallery.  The exhibition and both receptions are free and open to the public. Prices of works for sale are provided as part of the exhibition.

Dr. Jeff Young, chair of the UCA Department of Art, said that all students seeking either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the department must participate in a senior exhibit in order to meet graduation requirements.  This fall, the exhibition will feature the work of 11 BA and two BFA undergraduates and will include painting, sculpture, photography, drawings, illustration and graphic design.

Bachelor of Arts majors in Studio Art and Art Education, their hometowns and parents include: Anthony DeGroot of Eldon, Iowa, Fine Arts Emphasis, son of Jerry and Mary DeGroot; Robert (Trés) Gary of Houston, Texas, Fine Arts Emphasis, son of Rebecca Bornstein; Loretta May Myles of Terre Haute, Ind., Art Education Emphasis, daughter of John Myles and Virginia Chastain; Christin Burks of Mountain View, Fine Arts Emphasis, wife of Matt Burks and daughter of Scott and Liz Beck; Ashly Eaton of Little Rock, Fine Arts Emphasis, daughter of Vickie Eaton; Misty Lowe of Sherwood, Art Education Emphasis, daughter of Jim and Diane Lowe; Kimberly Ann Moore of Conway, Art Education Emphasis, daughter of Ronald and Rosie Moore; Tara Petty of Cabot, Art Education Emphasis, daughter of Lewis and Kathy Chandler; Adam Rogers of Conway, Fine Arts Emphasis, son of Roy and Vickie Rogers; and Nichole Yankowskas of Jacksonville, Fine Arts Emphasis, daughter of Maria and John Yankowskas

Bachelor of Fine Arts majors, their studio emphasis, and their hometowns and parents include: Ashley Driver of Little Rock, Graphic Design, daughter of Laurie Driver and Bruce Driver; and Brian Balentine of Conway, Photography, son of Floyd and Sheila Balentine .

To display work in the exhibit, both BA and BFA students must present their work and have it accepted by art faculty review panels. The semester before the exhibit, BFA students must submit to art faculty proposals to create a body of work that focuses on a specific idea. After the idea is accepted by the faculty, the students receive faculty guidance through the creation process.
