BACC and AHTD to Hold Hwy 167 dedication

The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department will host a ribbon cutting dedicated to the recent improvements to Hwy 167 just north of Batesville.  The event will take place Friday, Oct. 18 from 11 am until 11:30 am in the old Western Sizzlin’ parking lot.  The community is strongly encouraged to attend!

This project being completed is a $6.9 million job that was let to White River Materials in January 2011 to widen Hwy 167 to five lanes from Hwy 69 (Barnett) about three miles north to Hwy 394. The contract also included installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection at Hwy 25/69. The ½-mile section between the traffic signals at Barnett and White Dr. also includes curbs and gutters. This project extends the previous widening of Hwy 167 from Hwy 233. That $9.4 million job was completed in 2011.

Future work is planned to continue the widening to Cave City. Two separate contracts are programmed for that work: The five miles from Hwy 394 to County Rd.80 and then the final 4.5 miles from County Rd. 84 to Cave City.
